The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) have each defined a set of standards for classifying the environmental applications of electronics enclosures.

The Panel Top HAND-TRAK and Panel Mount HAND-TRAK products each meet the NEMA 4 and IEC IP66 classification standards.

NEMA 4; The enclosure must provide a degree of protection against the following:

Indoor Applications:

Incidental personal contact with the enclosed equipment

Falling dirt

Falling liquids and light splashing

Circulating dust

Settling airborne, non-hazardous dust, lint, fibers, and flyings

Hosedown and splashing water

Outdoor Applications:

Incidental personal contact with the enclosed equipment

Rain, snow, and sleet (external operating mechanisms not required to operate when the enclosure is ice-covered)

Windblown dust, lint, fibers, and flyings

NEMA 4; The enclosure must provide a degree of protection against the following:

IP66; the enclosure provides the following degrees of protection:

Totally protected against dust

Protected against strong liquid jets from all directions - limited ingress permitted.
